Update your direct X
Make sure you're an admin
Compatibly mode doesnt matter at all.
Use partition magic and create yourself a windows Xp partition of about 5 GB and just put PSOBB on it. You can also run it via a virtual machine so you can run PSOBB via XP while still being under 7. This will work no matter what. However almost all of us are on windows 7 now and it works.
Also if you have more than 1 video card in your system you need to disable one of them PSOBB only works with 1 video card. That was stopping me for awhile.
